Chate is a Photographer/Graphic Designer living in New York City. He began shooting pictures as a hobby but soon his work began showing up in magazines and websites. His pictures have appeared in newspapers and magazines in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Minnesota, Canada and as far away as London and India! For more than seven years he shot the Bollywood Fashion Awards, Bollywood Music Awards and Bollywood Film Awards from first-time models on the ramp to Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwaria Rai. He was Featured in Anokhi Magazine – one of the finest South Asian fashion magazines in North America, with a seven page spread in 2006 and again in 2008.
Chate is a native of Guyana and grew up in a traditional Indo-Guyanese family. In New York he developed an accelerated sense of community awareness, something that he inherited from his grandfather the late Bhola Nauth, one of the founding members of the Rama Krishna School and the Maha Sabha in Georgetown, Guyana. “I am Indian by ancestry, Guyanese by nationality and American by citizenship!” Chate says with pride. Naturally, whenever there is an Indian festival in the city, he is there capturing every moment.
His accomplishment as a photographer took him to India in 2003 where he was the official photographer for Pt. Satyanarayana Charka and the East West School of Dance, an award recipient at the Annual Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Conference.
